Facet Solid State Pump

I have got a Facet lift pump and it seems very noisy. I bought it from EBay some time ago, it looks genuine but as we know there are a lot of counterfeit goods out there.

 

Would you expect a genuine Facet pump to be noisy?

 

£10 cheaper then list price should of given it away!!

Yes they are noisy. The do rubber mounts which helps a bit but not much.

Thanks Nigel, I've mounted my swell pot and pumps in the boot right behind me so proberbly notice it more.

mine has been ticking continuously for 10 years, but still running ok.

 

oh yes, only while the engine is running....

Mine used to be really noisy when I went round a corner and the pump run dry for a few seconds, but they should quiet down when they are pumping petrol. The rubber mounts do help, but not a great deal.

Mines noisy too especially when you first turn the ignition on, gets a bit quieter when the carbs are full but you can't hear anything when the engine fires!

Mine is noisy with the ignition on but engine not running, I don't think they like running into a "Dead end".

When its pumping it quietens down nicely.

 

I fitted a local isolation switch so you can work on the car with the ignition on and still hear the radio

It could act as another anti-theft device too!

What type of pumps are these that you are talking about, solid state or interrupter? I've bought a red top interrupter and now I'm worried it's going to be noisy!

the cube shaped ones......they arent deafening.....they just tick....you can hear it before the engine starts,

but not afterwards....

IIRC the interruptor type should stop once its reached pressure.

You can also hear them just before you run out of fuel (ask me how I know).
