Just put a new earth in from your relay to a convenient point on the chassis if it turns out to be the problem.

Leave the defunct one where it is mate.

I was hoping that would be the case, makes life hell of a lot easier!

 

I have a strong feeling tonight I will have main beam working from the switch for the first time! I hope!

All sorted lads, thanks a lot for your help, it's turned out to be the relay, had I know what I was doing I would of probably found it within hours but you live and learn. They says it's the small things...... I'm chuffed to bits as it was the last electrical problem sorted and everything works.

 

I don't have much luck with relays, I had no indicator s to start with and it turned out to be the flasher relay and the hazard really!

I have a similar problem and seek the guidance of the masters of the black art. My lights all work as they should with the ignition off, but when I turn the ignition on, I loose the flash function.

Is this a problem with the live and earth on the relay being the wrong way around?

Your help would be appreciated.
