Filter King Necessary?

Hi, having just fitted a swirl pot to Zetec 2ltr blacktop to ZX9R carbs is there any need for a Filter King before the carbs or will a good old cheapie plastic fuel filter after the swirl pot do as good a job? Cheers

I am running zx9 carbs don't have filter king don't have swirl pot just a plastic filter and I have no problems

Ok, thanks tractor, I fitted the swirl pot as I was getting fade on long left handers due to the fuel tank not being baffled. It's in now but it will be good to get rid of the filter king and free up some space under the bonnet.

Unless its also a fuel regulator.

The filter king will regulate the fuel pressure from your pump, bike carbs only require about 4psi.

From the factory the filter king will be set to 3psi.

 

As I Understand it the bike carbs are not too happy with lots of fuel pressure.

 

Many leave them at 3psi but that said, some are reset to 2psi and some 4 depending on how it runs.

I am running bike fuel pump fitted next to tank on 8mm braided fuel hose to carbs

If your running a bike pump you don't need a Filter King just a filter will do

Filter King do two types,one a combined filter & regulator, one just a filter.

But if you have a bike pump, you do just need a filter & a plastic one is fine.

The swirl pot has a return from the carbs via a T piece close to the carbs in a smaller bore fuel line so there can't be too much pressure at the float chambers...
