How To Get Grease Of Paintwork.

I have been doing some work on car with my eight year old son. Ended up with greasy finger prints all over it. Not sure what to use. Thanks Kev.

Glass cleaner or meth then glass cleaner might work

A quick spray of brake cleaner should do it, followed by a quick wipe before it dries.

chemicals scare me on paint. If it was me i'd wipe with a soft cloth to remove most. Then soap (or car shampoo) and water. then clean water as fairy liquid has salts in it. Then a good wax to protect it all again.

worth testing in a hidden area before using chemicals though depending on your paint. I've got celly on mine and i have problems with reactions so i tend to play safe

I thought you'd said brake FLUID - which is a definite NO ! (unless you want to remove paint as well )

 

A mild detergent or even soapy hands would do the job followed by clean water and dry off.

IIRC brake cleaners are mostly isopropyl alcohol.

 

I'd use wax polish if its bodywork, painted or stainless.

i think brake cleaner a bit more volatile than isopropyl alcohol, something more like ether. Certainly made my head go funny when i was spraying it at something whilst i was under the car!!! :crazy:

Go-waterless and two microfiber clothes one to wipe on/clean and the other to polish it. Absolutely fantastic stuff. Wash and polish a car minutes..

Thanks for all the suggestions, in the end i used glass cleaner and it worked a treat.
