Helicoils require the old thread drilled out to the tapping size of the helicoil, you then remap the hole using the supplied tap for that size helicoil, then you set the coil into the hole, the the id of the helicoil will then act like the thread you drilled out, for this you need to work out what thread the adjuster is and buy the helicoil kit to suit, if it were me I would tap the thread out and see how that works, if it doesn't, you would almost be quicker buying another head. I wouldn't want to drill out a hole in the cylinder head with it still on the car, swarf will always get down into an oil way, no matter how hard you try to keep it out!
