Tintop Wheel Bearing Lasted 500Miles!

I changed the wheel bearing on my 307 last monday as it was toast. Ordered the new bearing from eurocarparts and it turned up 3hrs later great service. Today 500miles later i was about to fit a new abs sensor, jacked the car up and there was play ? stripped it all back down and its completely shot worse than the one i replaced earlier in the week.

The brand i ordered from euro was not what got delivered, which i thought ok as the kit supplied was lucas, which i thought would be of reasonable quality "HOW WRONG WAS I"

Now the real test of euro car parts customer services, removing the last bearing destroyed it so they will only have my word that its gone, lets see how they deal with it should be interesting tomorrow.

Furthermore a circoli thermostat supplied by them several months ago broke last saturday causing my car to overheat on the m1, i dont have the receipt for that one so again should be interesting as i replaced it with genuine peugeot one so will be after a refund on that to, £31 as it is an electrically operated one and not cheap.

then there is the small matter of the 3hrs labour or so i have wasted + the additional cost of my 100mile commute in my 3.0 v6 £10 a day more than the 307 which is lpg.

i will report back tomorrow with the outcome, i,m expecting good customer service but if they turn out to be difficult there will be one big rant on here and every other piece of cyberspace i inhabit. <_<

the bearing was a lucas part so not euro's fault as such, i,m more interested in how there cst services handle things tomorrow. even a cheap bearing should have lasted more than 500 motorway miles ! perhaps i've been unlucky ?

what ever happens tomorrow i will be fitting an skf bearing...

I use ecp for specific items.. wipers oil filters plugs nothing else..circoli stuff is crap imo

I had a water pump lasted 3 weeks.

I have a feeling that not fitted professionally and no receipt will mean 1 thing

Had the same thing with a focus factor supplied rear wheel bearing first one lasted less than 250 miles 2nd one noticed it was tight on fitting so removed it and fitted genuine ford supplied one, perfect but cost us extra but the customer was happy.

Spoke to them today, I will no longer be using them. It was all ordered online but I have to take it back to the store it was delivered from. I don't have the time to do this hence why I ordered online. They will then send it back to the supplier for analyse upon which I might 4 to 6 weeks later receive a refund. To get the bearing back off the car has broke it. So basically no chance of a refund ! So that + the circoli stat that nearly destroyed my engine. I will no longer be a customer of there's. Utter rubbish service. Just my opinion of coarse.

This sending it back to the manufacture for analysis has been going on for years. Its a kop out! Same thing happened to me on my old Mk1 Escort. Not so old at the time (1981). Fitted a new set of front wheel bearings. One side failed after not an awful lot of time. Took it back to the supplier who said they would have to send it back the manufacture for analysis. Results came back. No fault with the product. It must therefore have been a poorly fit bearing, User error! Its your word against theirs.

I have since learnt from this and now insist on a refund or replacement from the supplier no matter what the product. You have a contract with the supplier not the manufacture.

I am not convinced! I have a XF Jag from new in May 2013. It has needed replacement rear brake pads after 19000 miles. It went in for its first service at 12000 miles at which time it had suffered 40% wear on the pads. At 19000 miles it had lost a further 40% and needed replacing. I argued that there must be something wrong with the car for the REAR pads to wear out so quickly. The main dealer fitted these new pads without quoting a price. When I went to collect, they wanted £260!!!! I refused to pay as I felt the price was excessive. I offered to pay £130. They refused to accept my compromise so, I told them to take them off and replace the original ones. After much houghing and poofing they put the old ones back on. My local garage fitted them, inc parts for £97.00.

Its the parts where these dealers make their money.

Lucky my employer gave the time today to go over to eurocarpart. The chap on the counter couldn't have been more helpful, refunded the money no issue. Still dosent account for my time and expense. If you buy online then it should be dealt with that way also. I.m still unlikely to use them again for anything other than oil and antifreeze. Let's hope the new snr bearing is better
