A Question For The Rhocaravan /rhocarahome Club.

We have a 2.2L turbo diesel Ducato ('07) 3.5T coachbuilt (5berth) motorhome, which when loaded to go away is very nippy.

We don't have a tow-bar, but I do think it will capably tow a small car along motorways, although it will labour on the steeper inclines.

The small engine, I think, will be hit by fuel consumption too (we currently get approx. 23mpg doing leisurely runs).

My personal preference would be to go for a bigger engine to tow. With the smaller (2.2) engine - if you were towing all the time, I think you would find it tiresone, slow and thirsty.

Hope this helps,

-steve

Thanks for all the replies and feedback.

We've got a motorhome we like the layout off and it comes with a 2.8L diesel motor. We were out at the weekend in the peak district and so far we're pretty happy with it.

we have a 2,2 ducto 2007 6 birth it goes quite good in a straight line if any thing i am always having to lift off and watch speedo, i aim to pull kit on a trailer once tow bar fitted, also you may want to consider what if any added bits you may need, bike rack tow bar solar panels roof box ladder, etc and try to bargain these into the purchase.
