R1 Pinto'd 2B Build

Evening all thought if start a build thread and document the progress.

The purchase of the kit was even if I say myself somewhat of a impulse purchase after deciding I was bored with the power from my road legal track car and the cost of supercharging it versus the end value didn't tally so I purchased an unfinished kit from a chap who bought it new

It was a rolling chassis with engine and box already in.

So I've had the kit almost 3 years now and I'm finally getting some good progress made after it been sat untouched for over a year after buying a house.

I managed to get the old girl to start a few weeks ago somewhat of a milestone and currently getting the wiring loom in. Decided to go all out and fit a new electronic dizzy and high power coil to be honest as I'm going it's getting treated to many new upgraded parts. If im gonna build it it's gonna be built right first time round that's my plan anyway. Finished the fuel line and fabricated the mounting for the tank the other day so that's the fuel side all in and plumed tank, sender, pump, lines and pressure reg for the carbs :-)

Update

So things are moving slowly but moving non the less I'm mid way through fitting the fuel flap just need to get some of the pipe powder coated this afternoon then I can get that bit all bolted up.

Had a nice big parcel in the post today which contained my new dash from kit spares. Although I must say I'm slightly disappointed that it needs quite abit of work to for even though it was for the 2b was hoping it would be a bit nearer fit.

Few pics of the dash sat in place as close as it goes for now.

Cheers Mike.

So I've finished installing the fuel filler neck and cap today a job that consumed far to many hours than it should of done. I've decided to stick with the original location for now and will see how it goes as to wether I move it onto the top.

Also been tieing up some odd jobs one of which was connecting the dizzy to the coil now it's all fixed in their final locations made a little fly lea up for this and have decided to use the tyco connectors incase indeed to remove items they can simply be unplugged will be doing the same for fuel pump and indicators on nose etc. rather pleased with this bit

Only question I have are the dizzy wires ok running with the ht lead as well??? Was unsure if I would experience any electrical interference???

Then made a start fabricating a alternator bracket to fit my denso.

I wouldn't run any wiring along the same tubing as a spark plug lead.

The king lead could lead to even worse interference.

It should be easy enough to find a seperate route for the small leads.

make sure the fuel cap has the correct radius on it ,mine failed its sva test on that so I think the new test would be the same, as above don't cut the dash till all else is fitted I made that mistake
