If I need to make the clutch disengage earlier do I put a smaller or larger bore master cylinder in place of the current one?

 

Currently as I depress the clutch pedal, unless it is on the floor, I can feel, and hear gears, still engaged and teeth chattering as I change down. It is alright going up the box.

Larger bore m/c will displace more fluid, ie push the slave cylinder further down

Bigger bore master cylinder pushes out more fluid per inch of pedal depression.

More fluid pushes slave cylinder further disengaging clutch sooner.

So for early clutch release and a heaver pedal fit a larger bore master cylinder.

Would a smaller bore slave cylinder have the same effect?

if you happen to need a 3/4 bore, i am fairly sure there is a new one in my workshop you can have

you need a smaller bore as a larger one can push the end of the unit as I was advised by retro ford when I done mine. Sounds stupid but where is your clutch pedal sitting compared to your other pedals the should be level,

It is level but to see what bore it is I need to take the side off the car off and I ain't gonna do that tonight!

Might sound odd but can you get your hand onto it and feel the lettering? If so....... is there any plasticene in the house? I've managed before to make an impression of casting numbers and the like to read something that I couldn't see or get a mirror into a position where I could see. I've also managed to use a camera-phone at arms length to take a picture of stuff that I can't see directly.
