I use to make them my self a few years ago when I had my work shop (ex saddler) most folk use a piece of caravan awning rail on too of the windscreen to hold the front down

I used the awning rail. It gives a smart finish. Had to use turnbuckles at the anchor points at the sides of the roll bar as press studs just popped of at about 40 mph.

That Looks great....I have one of these as well as the full wet weather gear.

Have to admit I have never used mine.....I actually dont quite get what they are for..... :-)

Do people use them to keep sun off or rain off, or both.....

I just throw the wet weather roof on if it starts raining. Perhaps I should give mine a try out :-)

They are used and work well for both. So I am told.

Is anyone taking orders?

My wife is thinking of replacing the knackered hood on her spartan with a Surrey top which she intends to make herself. What is the material your mum used on yours? I saw a top yesterday which used awning rail and I was impressed on how neat it looked, for a moment I half considered having one made for my car.

Are there any hints and tips for a would be roof maker?
