They are a very difficult sump to get the gaskets and seals right.

Great care is needed when fitting.

Steve ofStockport might be able to I've you more info if you pm him.

Not sure if Bobhas had to change his on his own yet.

Don't overdo it with sealant Lew.

If it squishes out on the inside of the sump, when it mixes with oil it never sets fully.

It then gets into the galleries and blocks them giving you loads of trouble.edit. Seeing that your business is windscreens, one of the best sealing agents is the stuff you already use on the glass.

Just be very sparing with it and allow full setting time before filling with oils.

I would assume you already know about clean surfaces before application.

Another way out is a cavalier diesel tin sump.

Easier for welding if you want to shorten it, for ground clearance, or put baffles in.

Baffles get rid of intermediate splash plat so only single gasket required instead of the double wrap around one.

If you are using the double gasket, no sealant should be used with the rubber gasket, but serface shave to be ultra clean.

This allows the rubber to grip the dry areas and stops them from getting squeezed out of place.

Don't forget Bob. They were trained by your own daughters, sons and ultimately yourself.

All that improvement and you stand absolutely no chance Bob.

Unfortunately this lot were "trained " by their lazy, good for nothing, rude, ignorant father.

No, I dont like him...

We are also dog sitting their young black labrador, who is full of beans.....& I'm not

and we have said grandsons car sitting in our drive while they are on holiday

"So you (meaning me) can keep an eye on it for me"

meanwhile, my mx 5 is parked on the road

I went wrong somewhere...

Hi Richard,

Yup tried one of those....still leaked

Tried two SBD COMETIC flock faced metal gaskets (B... expensive!)....still leaked

Tried two thick cheap gaskets without sealant......leaked badly

tried two thin expensive gaskets with sealent......didnt leak as much

Eventually I used one thin expensive gasket, WYNNS gasket maker, & ditched the windage plate.

But only because I have a well baffled sump.

Not straightforward, I had to adjust the pickup pipe....it was firmly on the bottom of the sump

I had to shorten all the sump bolts...they bottomed out without clamping the gasket.

NO LEAKS AT ALL AFTER 2000 MILES

Thanks to Stockport Steve for the pointer to WYNNS. Good man!
