At least the filter is working and the dirt isn't getting to your fuel system. Would suggest either a proper clean down of the tank or just wait until it goes away. You haven't used anything unsuitable for petrol to seal the tank have you?

Don't loose faith over something that is technically simple but tedious to clear.

If you go to a diesel specialist, you should be able to buy a much bigger but even finer filter kit.

Although it is finer, it will still pass through enough fuel and take much longer to clog because of the serface area.

You might even find one on eBay.

I have just entered Bosch fuel filter into eBay search and the choice is virtually unending.

You will need one with feed and exit pipes.

You can then mount it anywhere with a large "p" clip.

When your tank is clear, you will be able to remove it if you wish.

Since having the tank I have only had fuel fro a local car garage so must be rubbish fuel from there, I'm grateful the filter is doing its job otherwise could of killed a pump by now, my fuel lines are Teflon over braided.all brand new whether tank went in earlier this year, I'm going to get a bigger filter, maybe a glass filter so I can see the build up, I have a big bosch injection filter after my pump before the fuel rail

Do you fill your car at the pumps or with cans.

Even after cleaning out the tank, if you stored your fuel in something like a rearely used Jerry can, you could have picked up dirt from there.

Even new tanks can be contaminated before you fit them.

It would be very difficult to clean it out 100'/, first attempt.

As said earlier a bigger filter should safeguard your system components.

If the problem continues, you will have to clean your tank out yet again and flush all the pipe too.

Mine blocked after I filled up using what looked like a new metal jerry can. It was full of crap (rust particles) and blocked the filter causing 2 separate "stoppages" on the road before I found the root casue. I've not had the issue since draining the tank completely and using good known clean fuel.

Do you have an open tank breather pipe that could be getting sand/ grit kicked up from the back wheels?

If so one of the small air filters can be fitted to keep it out.

Otherwise maybe get the old filter and cut it open over a white sheet of paper and try and see just what it is in your filter (do the CSI bit), it may help you see if really is sand and grit or shards of metal, rubber etc, may give you a clue where it is coming from.

I have a crank case breather on the breather pipe. Iv pulled the filter apart and it's like sand. I'll try get a pic and post it up. Iv ordered a glass filter that's lager then the filter I'm using. I should be able to see what's going on then. I'm going to drain the tank and put the fuel through a fine gauze before putting it back in the tank
