Zero Geometry Settings

Hi all

 

Part if my winter to do list is sorting out the geometry on the zero.

 

I have borrowed a tracking kit and done a bit of reading on procedures.

 

The main questions are what order should I be adjusting components in. Eg. Camber, toe, ride height?

 

The second is what should the 'standard' settings for a zero be?

Is castor adjustable on a zero?

 

I would hazard a guess at 1 degree negative camber and neutral erring towards slight toe in being about right.

Caster is fixed and those settings are what I have seen but having a fixed set of numbers to work to seems better.

 

I have read different opinions on ride heights. Camber on the front seems to be about 1' neg and about 1mm each side toe in.

do not forget the rear

Yer. I have read the jig is/was out so one of the rear wheels kicks inward? Guess this can be fixed with a few washer behind the hub carrier?

I wouldn't believe all you read, washers may be a little excessive, I used shims.

this is how mines is set up

 

 

1.4 deg neg camber and 2deg toe in across the front axle.

The car was corner weighted as well total weight of car 648kg. 734kg with me in it I'm 86kg
Left 352kg 48%
Right 382kg 52%
Axle-F 358kg 48.8%
Axle -R 376kg 51.2%
FL +RR 367 50%
FR + RL 367 50%
We actually had 50% for all the figures which he hadn't seen for a while but I moved position. A very well balanced car.

Thanks, that's good info. Any idea on the ride height? Should the front be slightly lower than the rear?

A slight rake can be beneficial ,I ran about 1/2 inch lower at front with sim figs to the above and it always seemed very planted and nice to drive mick :crazy:

All good info, but may be of no use on YOUR car.

 

Pretty sure Thrashed is Ford based. Mazda has diffent settings. There are also different damper lengths on some, and it may be on ATR.

 

1 Tyre pressures

 

2 Decide how you will use car. Road, track, bit of both. Take into account road condition, and possible loads.

 

3 Set height according to Q2, ranges 90 to 130 front, 10mm rake front to rear, think Micks was Robin Hood, take into account damper length, particularly rear.

 

4 Set camber front and rear, ranges from .5 to 2 dependant on Q2

 

5 Set track front and rear dependant on Q2

 

Road test car and see if it is right for you. NO Start again ☺

YES fine until you change use, or drive in different conditions.

 

For average use, tell the factory your spec and take their advice.
