RE building a pinto : you can spend as much as you like £xxxxxxx or research and buy only the good bits and build it yourself, cutting out labour costs, my serie3 came with a 2.1 but std cam /head single carb it gave around 105/110 at the crank, bottom end was sound so I spent in the region of £850 on a stg 2 head job and a high torque Newman cam left the 38 dgas on and got 144 at the crank after a slight rejet and ign swing . I also spent a silly 1/2 hr with the burton catalogue and priced a 2.4 alloy blocked/headed steel crank and rods dry sumped dream but before ign and fueling were added got to 19000quid !!! it just depends on the depth of your pocket and th length of your arms !! mick

Follow your common sense and forget traditional things.

You will start with a basic engine at 140 bhp.
