I have the v5 from the Sierra but don't have the bin plate will this mean it will be on a q plate

The VIN plate and VIN number and the registration number are not re-usable.

 

If you have used the main components from one donor Sierra it is possible to get

and age related plate.......it will be from the same year as the Sierra, but

a new one that has never been issued to any car.

 

Q plates are issued when you use components from more than one donor.

I have the v5 no vin plate didn't get the engine with the kit when I got it. log book says 1.6 but I've got a 2.0 for it would I be better doing it on q plate

There used to be a bit of a stigma about Q plates.

There no longer is apparently.

It would not bother me if I was driving around with one as long as I would be road legal.

Q plate has the big advantage that you don't have to pass an emission test, it's visible smoke only. I wish my builder had gone down that route

Like Alan says, a Q plate is a bonus on older engines. My 2.1L pinto engined 3A passed its MOT last month for the 18th time. No probs. (no smoke either).
