Hope my build will be of interest to some of you as it isn't a hood or gbs zero.

I have finally decided to make a start on building a kit car after years of saying "one day"

I bought a very rusty 1.6 eunos roadster as the donor.

I decided for easier access to remove the body shell in one.

So now I have all the donor parts ready to clean, engine is on the stand, a pile of bits for the tip and a pile of bits I'm selling to help fund the build.

Next job was to make a build table. Seeing as my Dad is a carpenter I thought I would rope him in, I know he would do a far better and accurate job than me in half the time!

The table is now also marked out for all the bottom rails, this took some time of measuring, checking and re-checking.

I also ordered a flat pack chassis kit which contains all the box section I need to make a chassis

So welder is at the ready and four days off from tomorrow so time to start tacking it together!!

Hi Dean,

Be very careful of what you throw away from the MX5. One of our members threw away an innocent looking small black box, which turned out to be crucially important to the engine ignition security system.

  • 3 months later...

It's been quite a while since I updated this. Had a few jobs the wife gave me to do and having the kids around in the summer holidays ment I didn't have as much garage time as I would of liked.

So I have tack welded the chassis together and I am now starting to fully weld it up.

Then I will move it forward on the build table to construct the rear suspension and diff area.

Next year I will be trying to attend some local meets hopefully meet with the Leicester crew!
