Ordered two pieces from Ebay but one looks more like copper to me.

Phoned up but they said it's because there from different batches and there both definitely Phosphor Bronze of the same grade.

What do you folks think ?

What should it be?

If you've bought Colphos 90, then it's likely they are both the same grade because you will get varying colours depending on batch and age.

If it's not Colphos 90, then to my untrained eye, the top one looks like SAE660 and the bottom looks like PB102.

PB104 (and 102) don't have lead so are fine to use on boilers.

SAE 660 has lead, so wouldn't want to use on a boiler. Although it's hard to tell for sure from a photo, that lighter coloured one could be SAE 660.

SAE660 is free cutting, so it will machine really easy whereas the 104 will be harder to machine......if you notice this difference, then it's likely they are different grades......but if they are both hard to machine, then it's probably the same grade.

Thanks Steamer

I thought the lighter coloured one was the PB104 as its' the same colouring as a piece I have for the regulator.

And ithats a bugger to machine. Hope the darker piece isn't even harder to cut.

Cheers

Steve

Spy. The right man to learn from is the very man you are talking to

Richard is doing quick look in coarses for club members.

Don't know when his next training day is though.

Quick jump over the hills and you would be there.
