Zetec Temp

I have just finished fitting a 2.0 zetec black top in my 2 series. My car has the Sierra dash

cluster from when i built it. When the engine is running the tempreature needle is sitting much

higher than when the pinto 2.0 did. Does the zetec run at a higher temperature or have I got

a cooling problem.

mine sits happy at 90 to 100. fan cuts in at 105 and knocks it right back down again

Temp will depend on fan controller setting, ECU or other. Most are set for 98 deg on 94 deg off, on a zetec. The will be small differences if the gauge and temp senors are at different locations.

 

The gauge transmitter can be effected by resistance problems, so if you have ECU check actual reading in that.

The zetec is designed to run a little hotter than most. Hence why big wing dumps are discouraged as the oil runs too cool.

If you have a sierra dash then you must have the correct sierra temperature sender to match it, otherwise the readings will be wrong.

Yes zetecs are designed to run hotter than a pinto. My fan is to run at 95C and off at 90C.

Cheers Gents, I ran the engine for quite while with the the needle well up and when

I stopped the engine there was no sign over heating what so ever. Complete silence.

I run my zetec at 90deg fan cuts in at 95deg. Never caused any issues
