The diesel was to check leak test when head was off it took couple of hours to soak away so gaps cant be that big

I have put the accuspark plugs in so can you gap these

All sparking getting fuel

Going to try new battery later

But its not even trying just turning

Regardless of the low compression, if the engine is slow to turn have you checked the starter motor. A knackered starter motor will drain the battery and give similar symtoms as you've described.

Try putting a jump lead direct from batt neg to the block.

If you have fuel and spark and its turning.. then you need to makre sure its at the correct place.

 

is the engine timed up correctly with marks..

is the spark in the correct place..

 

I have a strobe light you can borrow

Crank and cam timming marks line up

Just thought it wont matter its an 1800 cam and followers will it

Not in at minute but will try the lead to block

Those plug caused me real grief if the head has been skimmed a lot they get spark gap shut by piston contact! mick

You won't get piston to plug contact unless the head has been skimmed 2mm

1.5mm if Pistons are flush to block

 

Check you engine block earths if starter slow

Feel the power lead to the starter, if that's got your Earth is not good

Mine was a pig to start until I put a new Bosch 1.4KW starter motor on along with a new battery. Starts great now .

Well just fully charged battery only took an hour (strange)

Then boosted with anorther fully charged battery and still nothing not even trying just turning over

Think going to recheck compression etc again tomorow after work

I will also check timming isnt 180 out as i didnt do that bit and slip ups can be made but cam and crank marks are linning up

Is your coil getting good voltage on crank ? Failing that timing could be out, i put a pinto 180deg out once and it was dead as dead could be....

Going check as said didnt do belt timming as i was doing exhaust etb

But trust who was doing it

Maybe your cam shaft is 180° out
