Still Having Power Issues

So just to finish this topic off, new alternator cured everything. Warning lamp now goes off, and alternator is coping with the load on idle, apart from main beams and fan at the same time, but as soon as you Rev the engine it get enough rpm to run everything. Not so fussed as the likely hood of being sat on idle with main beams on for any length of time is extremely low, and I have the option of changing the lamps for LED. With a fully charged battery the alternator is putting out around 17amps and 14.2v to run the electrics (fan not running) no idea if that's high or not, and I'm not going to delve into it!

14.2v is just dandy. (I initially read the 17amps as 17volts and had a minor turn!) Don't worry too much about amps. 95% of the time the car is running the alternator will be making more than enough to cover the cars needs and charge the battery which takes up the slack like a huge capacitor in the remaining 5% of the time.
