Check Your Fuel Hose

I put new lines in the Marlin around 2 years ago when i moved the fuel lines mid build I used SAEJ30R6 spec hose which I bought on eBay.

 

After stripping out the lines today for my in tank fuel pump install I was not impressed with the condition I found the hoses, very perished and cracked especially around the area that jubilee clips sit. Also I found lots of rubber debris within the tank almost like the rubber was perishing from the inside.

 

I suspect the spec of the hose was not the same as printed on there

 

I wont be using cheap rubbish from eBay again.

 

Have a double check if you have bought fuel hose off eBay. Better to be safe than sorry!

eBay sellers passing off cheap goods as more expensive ones? Surely not hahaha. Fakery is all too easy these days. Been stung a couple of times.

With modern additives in petrol try using plastic pipe wherever possible as even good rubber pipe doesn't last long

R6 is a hydraulic spec hose for low pressure mineral oil, might be ok ish for diesel, fine for coolant hose but a no no for modern petrols.

Sadly if you look on eBay for fuel hose the r6 stuff is one of the first hits, which is most likely why I bought it!

 

Ah well live and learn! Im redoing the lines through the transmission in stainless tubing. Will never have to touch them again that way.... they are a nightmare to get to..
