You're absolutely right and something that's still on my mind. My car is pre 2006 so is max 270 ish tax but still bad enough. Q plate would be <1600cc which isn't that much diff. With regard to fuel mileage ugh just need to put up with it but to be honest it's going to be more of a track car so greater than 10mpg will be amazing!

230bhp will be a real buzz

I'm going to use the ford diff for now. I would need to spen sometime working out ratios vs gearing vs wheel diameter and I can't get my head round that just yet!
