Superspec Steering Rack Bracket

Hi all. After all the trials and tribulations of my superspec not running right I finally got out in it and boy was it good to have her running. So.much so my brother came up from Norwich to have a go. However he went out and had to stop as the bracket holding the steering rack on had broke 2 of the welds and is now bent out of shape.

 

Does anyone have any good ideas on how to make it stronger or to remake it so it wont do the same again

Watching with interest on this as mine broke the weld on the drivers side which was giving me a knocking when turning, its been welded and seems ok but it is a bit flimsy for a steering rack to be attached to

Mine had cracked on the drivers side and was simply welded up to the chassis tube by the previous owner. Still seems to be holding several years later but I do check it regularly.

well i am going to get my uncle to reweld it as he has a gas mig welder and hopefully apply some braces to sure it up.

 

will let you know how it goes as at the moment it is all chained up to hopefully stop it coming further apart
