Zetec help

I am just putting together my new zetec engine which way around does the spiget bearing go and is it best to fit before i put on my clutch plate

Fit spigot bearing first. Is it a needle roller or a plain bush? Normally it doesn't matter which way round.

Usually needle roller and there is a tiny lip seal in it. Gently taps in with a 'same size' socket and the seal is last in. The seal should be nearest the gearbox, not nearest the crank but that's only if you have OCD. Probably doesn't matter.

Flush with the hole is fitted in should be fine.

Flush with the rear face of the crank, not all the way to the bottom of the hole in the crank.

Between the engine and the type 9 gear box do you use the thin shim plate

Yes you do but it's primary purpose is not as a shim but to stop debris getting inside the bellhousing so sometimes called a crud plate. You can adapt the one from the pinto as shown below.

Right engine is in place but looks like it will need moving forward on my 2B the main support bar is very close has anyone else had the same problem 

Do you add a spacer into the drive shaft on the diff side

Yeah they are very close on a 2b you have to use a different water rail I used the retro ford one and no spacer on the drive shaft

And do i need a header tank

Hi mine is like this, in my case top hose is a retro-ford water rail, but you get the idea. 

(just drew this in excel sorry for the naff-ness)

This is mine. Includes warm-up bypass to reduce stress on the engine. Use the zetec thermostat housing if you can. This copes with 200bhp engine.
