The catch phrase may be amusing but the result is not

Lost the keys to Lobby Ludd......The main set anyway..

I have still got a spare ignition key... Phew you may say or not

So cmon lads n lasses...Where do I get a replacement ignition key for a ford sierra.....no clever dikkie answers like "Have you tried Ford"

Probably right though.....I will go into my Ford Dealership where they will go "A what" and fall down laughing...

The real problem is...... how do I remove the petrol filler cap without the little key thingie

As usual... any help will be really appreciated👁️

Piccies of fuel filler cap below

Same, the old one opened with a screwdriver. Any good locksmith will be able to copy a key of most types. Mine can do caravan locks, padlocks, 50 year old trucks etc. When the local ford dealer couldn't supply me a key for a Ford escort without a number he whipped the lock out in about 30 seconds and cut one just by looking at it. Granted it didn't work the first time but the whole procedure only took 10 minutes and I was away with some spare keys. I got rid of my locking petrol cap reasoning that I would rather lose 25 quids worth of petrol than have 100 quids of damage and still lose the petrol.

Thank you Gentlemen for your wise counsel....I didn't want to attack the filler with my favourite semi sharp object without a little reassurance.

As far as the ignition key is concerned I am probably on a no hoper purchasing a new barrel set....kitspares sell em along with quite a few vendors on ebay

but they all want reference numbers etc.

I have the spare key so it's on the phone to my local locksmith.

Unfortunately the key ring fob cannot be replaced. I have had it since 1969. It was a gift from my best friend.

Just find an old school locksmith/key cutters. They will have the ford blanks and just cut you a new one to match. The place near me does them for £5.

I did ask timpsons and they put it in their machine to read the code and then looked confused as it didn't read anything. Not really suprising as it doesn't contain anything to be read :) Had to say it was too old for that kind of magic

But they did say they could do it for £15.

You can read the key number yourself, it will start with "T" and then be a string of digits, each will be 4 or less. The T is for tibb (the type of lock) and the digits represent how much of the key is cut away at each "notch".

If it's an old Chubb lock i've no idea apart from they're good for ripping your pocket linings.

You can't actually see numbers, the amount of metal removed from the key blank is represented by a number. I.E. a little bit removed is a 1, a lot is a 4 and none is a zero. Mind you, that's all from memory working at a Ford dealer 30 years ago. So it is possible to "read" key by comparing each "notch".
