Clutch / gearbox horrific metallic rattle and crunch

I can get my prop shaft  out with engine and gearbox in situ. If you cut away the floor panel in front of the diff, just to give you that bit of extra wiggle room. But you will still need to take out the engine to get the box out.

Weather depending the engine and box will come out Sunday. Then I can have a look. I comfident with most things mechanically but I think a gear box is prob asking for trouble lol.

Type 9's are very easy to work on. The only specialist tool I needed (which I made) was some levers to pop the rear bearing out of the casing but if that's not your issue, it's not something you'll need to worry about. Even then, they're only a pair of bent metal rods :D. If you can follow a haynes manual/step-by-step guide you'll be fine ;) don't be put off.

When my gear box went bang I upgraded to a longer 1st gear. Thanks to Kerry. The casing needed modifying, but well worth it. I did a piece for the mag, I'll look it out.

The sierra haynes manual in older editions told everything about gearboxes.

I have 2 copies the older one covers the first 2 years of sierra production and is good, the newer one covers all years of sierra production and it more or less says get exchange gearbox.

Haynes manuals have gone downhill over the years.

given time I can copy the type9 bits from the older manual for you.

I have one in the garage which I will be checking to see which I have the green/blue one. As I can’t remember which one I have.

I have ordered a clutch release bearing just Incase luck is in my favour lol.
