PX600 airbox

Just finishing the air filter housing and I have a small snag, open to ideas. 

I do not want to cut the nose cone, don't mind cutting the bonnet (again).

Do you think a heat gun would make the GRP soft enough to bend or is there a spacer I could use to extend the back plate?

GRP is thermoset so heat won't soften it. Looks like you need a spacer, depending on the thickness could you make an MDF one?

Needs to move about 60mm.

Has any used Durafix welding rods, thinking I might be able to make an aluminium box.

Found this on eBay, should fit and should move the air inlet and filter into the cold air.

Job for tomorrow.
