GBS Zero - 2 Litre Ztec Automatic > manual

Hi, We are building a GBS Zero and have the engine in with the shortened oil filter.

I thought that the 2 pipes coming out of the mounting were for an oil filter, But ive been told that the mounting needs to be removed and then the filter will go on again.

It seems unbelievable tight, 

Any ideas how to remove it please?

A image may help, is it a oil filter sandwich plate? If so there usually is a threaded sleeve in the middle with a hex on the end.
