Thanks Andi, living with snetterton close I really wanted to get on the track but think they will hamper that, but hoping normal road use will be fine, I’ve not physically driven yet on road, the springs are perilously close to the rim, have you found any issues at all? Or works around like spacers?

Well a massive thank you to the Forum for today’s news!   After nearly 6 years, endless hours of research and sourcing parts and cold nights in the garage it went in for its first MOT since

So a complete mare with the seat mounting in the car, a complete “opening a can of worms” situation, albeit needed….

So the seats I wanted to have both on runners, which needed some new holes. However upon cleaning back what started as sheet metal with a few holes in the floor, turned quickly into holes with a few bits of metal in it.

So I had to go down the route of taking the whole floor out

Purchased a complete floor from gbs but had to cut it up to fit and so that I didn’t have to take the sides off, we cut it and slid under sides and re fixed it all up nice, I also added the strengthening plate whilst there so that it’s nice a sturdy and hopefully will really improve the chassis

Due to the larger seats I’ve moved the handbrake further forward and added an extension plate in

Completed a new wiring set up for most auxiliary parts

Fuel tank was full of sludge, so removed and flushed through, new fuel pipes fitted as the originals have started to perish, bearings changed and boots are new……and i think it’s now ready for the MOT, other than a fuel sender replacement

Wow you have been busy, well done.

I would be interested to know if resiting your handbrake has affected the ground clearance at all?

fingers crossed for the MOT test

Fuel Sender fully knackered, pipe fell off on a slight breeze, new one now on the way, then it’s off for first MOT in 12 years, here’s hoping I can bring this fully back to life

New sender arrived and after some adjustments with the rotation to fit it it was ready to go in, new sender filter from a 2cv, new gasket then ordered and cut to size, with some Hylomar blue for good measure it all went back in and fuel gauge is working lovely. Re fitting all the boot back together and carpeting interior

Interior is near complete, arm rests and some edging and bits left is all.

had a run through for MOT and realised a few bits would be a straight no, reverse lights washer jets and full beams

absolute mare trying to sort washer jets out, troubleshooted the wrong way as found out it’s a fused earth switch set up, could not trace back the earth for the life of me, so have bypassed and now adding a temp toggle push switch as a workaround, also re wired up the fan switch nicely.

All is now complete…..minus a few creature comforts being sorted which is not MOT crucial

Big day today as couldn’t get it idling well,  and extreme emissions test, so, carb off and inlet manifold to replace gasket, cleaned up and fitted all back on, purchased a brand new 32/36 Weber carb from Eurocarbs with fitting kit at a great priceIMG_9182.thumb.jpeg.9859534a5f80b85a35174923d24dd072.jpeg, T’d in the fuel return pipe as no union outlet for that and re worked fuel pipes.
re worked the oil catch can pipe to have a vent.

Changed to a manual choke so plumbed that in and new hole in dashboard

The end of the day had ended in victory beers as it started up lovely on base settings, bit of play with idle and mix and it’s running very nicely…. So finally it will be getting in for MOT next week after 6 years in the restoration process!

Well a massive thank you to the Forum for today’s news!

After nearly 6 years, endless hours of research and sourcing parts and cold nights in the garage it went in for its first MOT since 2010 and passed with flying colours, adjustment needed on handbrake as binding slightly, given stationary for so long and I haven’t gone through them yet I was pretty flawed with result.

Now to get back on with new dashboard and dials, but essentially has a new lease of life ready for the roads where it belongs
