November 30, 20205 yr I know this maybe a stupid question as lowered sumps are not all the same. Just want to know what would be the estimated oil quantity for a 205 pinto?
November 30, 20205 yr So... I believe the trick is to go by the dip stick level not the quantity. Too much oil is just as bad as too little. The dip stick may be shortened to go along with the lowered sump. So the Max level is still correct in relation to big end bearings not splashing about in oil as they rotate. So fill it little by little and take a note of how much you have put in then you'll know for next time.

November 30, 20205 yr Always use the original full mark as full regardless of sump depth the oil level max is designed to not foam up by the spinning crank
December 1, 20205 yr My modded sump to the design with the rhs extension is 3.6litres to full on dip stick. Strangely I only get 3 out when I change it?

December 14, 20205 yr Or the position of the drain plug prevents all the oil draining leaving a 0.6l puddle in the bottom of the sump. Oil change is to both get rid of combustion contamination AND replenish used additives, with a smaller volume of oil changes should be a bit more frequent. With the milage that most of our cars do an anual oil change is probably good enough even with a smaller volume.
