Bike engine ignition issue

I need help solving what appears to be an ignition problem on a Westfield with a Honda suoerblackbird engine in it (injection version).

It used to start fine but since standing still for ages it now won't start except for one time it randomly did. I've been told the honda hiss ring which sends the signal from the chip to the ecu might be broken but not being able to find one of these in isolation I'm wondering if I change the whole ignition set (hiss ring, key, ecu and wiring) will that work?

If anyone can recommend someone to speak to I would be very grateful.

At the risk of being patronising, are we to assume that you have carried out some basic diagnostics ? that lead you to suspect the H.I.S.S. ring. I know nothing about Honda engines (so shut up then I hear you say) ... however a bit of Googling and I found a short Youtube that takes the viewer through a series of tests to attempt to isolate starting problems with a Honda engine. It begins with a check that the battery is up to the job, for example a poor battery can not provide enough voltage to the ECU when it is under load from the starter motor, the engine cranks but does not start. Then the video checks the plugs and ecu connectors etc etc etc ... the fueling system by spraying ether into the air intakes etc etc.  The link is below. The superblackbird has the two wire diagnostic mode connector mentioned, that gives fault codes. Again, I apologise if you have already carried out this sort of investigation.

It'll be a different bike - he's on about the engine from a Superblackbird, aka a CBR1100XX. Although maybe the management on a 929RR is the same, I don't know, but.... just sayin'

I'd have suspected fuel first if it'd been standing around for ages :) how long is 'ages' ?

Not patronising at all, thanks for taking the time to reply. I'm not a mechanic but can follow instructions or a Haynes manual fine 🙂

I have checked all the usual but not managed to get the diagnostic thing working. I've had a mechanic help me out with various checks. I feel that someone who knows what they're doing with motorcycle engines could fix it within a few hours.

I drained old fuel and replaced.

I'll follow the video and check as a sensible option. Could then check every wire and connection but a new ignition set isn't too expensive relative to the time it would take to check everything. As its electrics id be happy to find someone to sort it somehow as electrics aren't my bag...
