My Robin Hood 3A for sale.  10 months MOT. 1998 on a C plate.  A well cared for example which I have owned for approximately 9 years.  Taken off the road after purchase to carry out a rebuild which lasted 2 years!  I have decided to sell her as I want to do a new project. No expense has been spared.  The car has covered just over 2000 miles since the rebuild. The work carried out included:

  • stainless monocoque reinforced and professionally welded at the known weak points
  • New suspension including coilovers, top wishbone bearing upgrade and tie bar conversion.  Rear camber wedges.  Recon steering rack.  Quick Release steering wheel.  New braking system.
  • Replacement rebuilt 2 litre Pinto engine fitted with skimmed head, FR32 cam, vernier pulley, Fireblade carbs on Bogg Brothers manifold, Megajolt ignition with new coil pack and leads, oil cooler, lowered sump and guard, cool air intake.  Made 140 bhp on Steve Walfords rolling road.
  • New Radtec alloy radiator, Spal fan, alloy header tank, 3-speed heater for the cooler months!
  • Recon diff by Barra Motorsport
  • Wider front and rear wings to take the 17" KEI wheels and Rainsport 3 205/40 tyres, professionally painted Mazda True Red
  • Custom made wiring harness, fuse and relay box.  Replacement battery 2020.
  • Retrimmed adjustable seats by Land & Marine.  Tinted laminated screen with new wiper system.  GBS dash with Smiths instruments.  Centre hinged bonnet.  Roll bar modified and 4-point seat belts fitted.
  • Most steel parts have been powder coated, all new nuts and bolts.

The car is correctly registered as a Robin Hood and is in my name.  I am looking for offers around £4400 to include wet weather gear (never been in the rain since I've had it). Located in Aldridge, West Midlands.

Robert ... on this occasion I am very disappointed that I already own a hoodie.

If I didn’t, then I would pay your asking price without hesitation.

You have put together an outstanding example of a hoodie and I sincerely hope that it’s next owner will cherish it, love it ... and drive it.

Congratulations Sir ... a superb example of quality engineering.

Wow! what a car, surrounded by the bits and pieces of my rebuilding, looking at all the work still to do, I heard a whisper saying, "Throw this load of tat away and buy that car!". At least, as I continue, I can see what is possible, eventually, perhaps, sometime, maybe.

I have had a rethink and the price is now £4400.

I should think you have!

You have done a beautiful job on her. I would be very proud to do such work! I just paid 4500, for what I thought was tidy, but I have been fettling for 3 weeks, with plenty more to do, including fitting the soft top it came with, (but no fittings on the car), and it handles like a hovercraft. I am praying new shocks and springs will sort that.

What size wheels and tyres were those? I have 15 inch wheels but would lover more ground clearance, and longer legs.

Hi,

Where did you pick up your dash panel for your 3A ??

The S3a had pre cut holes in the stainless scuttle for gauges, when I did it I covered stainless dash with yoga mat and leather cloth
