Fuel gauge

I’m sure this must have been covered at some point. I’m fitting Capri clocks & I’m struggling with the fuel gauge (Sierra sender) as in it only goes half way when it should show full has anyone done the same or know how to address the issue?

Usually gauges & senders are matched hence your problem with Capri clocks & sierra sender, you need to find out what the resistance value is of the gauge and find a sender with a similar range. There is an electronic box that would do it for you, cant offer any review of it but maybe someone on here has used one.

I tried one and gave up with it. The gauges and tank set up are not really very accurate at the best of times. Best do as geordie said and find the proper sender. I filled my tank half full and then bent the float wire until it showed half full. Doesn't mean it is accurate across the rest of the range Ibut I  know when to think about filling up and I have a good reserve to find fuel

Been reading through loads of posts on here & it seems the only way to get it right is to use a mk2 escort estate sender - found a nos one in Australia for about £230 on ebay so that's not an option. I guess it works within reason as it is so will worry about it at a later date.

I just bought one of the cheap gauges with sender included off amazon, was £20 but think you can get them for about £15 of ebay. I have got a digital speedo with 0-90 ohms resistance  and was hoping the senders resistance might match but its 0-230 unfortunately. But it does work nice and smooth with its own gauge and I tested it for accuracy which was spot on. But looks like i will have to cough up £40 for the sender with the correct ohms resistance. As usual for me, I tried to save a bit of money but it back fired lol.

this was the one i got:

I've finally found a solution to the Capri fuel level without spending the £200 that people want on eBay for an Escort estate sender. I've grafted an early Beetle sender onto the Sierra unit & it seems to work ok, so for just over £20 I'm happy
