You will probably be OK although that depends on the examiner.  it might be worth checking with the IVA staton you intend to use.   They may that a plate could be removed so you must engrave the number on the chassis itself.

IVA manual says it  can be welded as long as the weld goes all the way round...

Hi Steve 1506.

I got my GBS zero thro IVA in Dec 2021. 

I hand engraved the VIN No on a chassis rail and Timpsons ( yes, shoes, keys cut, engraving ) did a very tidy job of engraving the statutory fixed plate.

Thanks for that , have you a pic of your fixed plate as I have a small cnc macine so engraving  the plate is no problem for me just like to be sure of the correct format.

Doesn't have to be anything clever; minimum is manufacturers name and VIN. Some people put axle weights on - don't see the point personally because if you get those weights wrong, you can fail IVA.

Hi Steve. 

Some of the other members with a 2B should be able to help with the max gross weights for total and each axle. On the zero it was about double the actual weight of the car.
