I'm planning on going up to North Wales on Sunday 21st July. The NW guys made mentioned they were going down to Bala on the same day, if they do, we could maybe meet up.

My plan is to set off early (0900ish) and head for the well known Ponderosa Cafe on the Horseshoe Pass near Llangollen then maybe do the Evo Triangle. People that know me, know I don't bother with maps in North Wales so the route can be adapted to suit.

I'll share this on my Midlands area WhatsApp group and post any updates here, I know @Jez Morton has said he's interested.

Hope it goes well mate, Wales runs with Richy are the best.. He knows distant places and roads more than the local sheep. Best driving experiences I have ever had.

I'd love to keep you company but as fast as I fix one thing something else seems to go wrong at the moment. 

I've now got the engine running OK but a strange (scary) noise when you lift off to decelerate.  At the moment I can't even figure out exactly what it is or quite where it comes from ! 

Put me down as a definite maybe and hopefully I'll get it sorted by the weekend  -  I might be giving you a ring to pick your brains if I don't get anywhere in the next couple of days 🤪

What time 'ish will you be arriving at the Ponderosa Cafe, we could meet you there? on our timescale we would be getting there about 1030am 'ish

 

I'd expect to arrive between 1030 and 1100

The mechanical gremlins have struck and I won't be heading out tomorrow. Rupert has had an intermittent misfire for a few weeks has got worse and after spending hours trying to sort it to no avail, it has beaten me!!

Good drive out today. Jez drove up from Coventry and met me in Tamworth. We headed to the Ponderosa Cafe near Llangollen via Whitchurch.

When we got there, we met Ian and Joy who'd come down from Warrington. We all then went via the Evo Triangle to Llyn Brenig where we had lunch.

After lunch we did a refuel stop in Denbigh from where Ian and Joy headed back while Jez and me went back home via the Evo Triangle, Bala and the Berwyn mountains.

All in all, probably 260 miles. Roads were a bit busy in places but at least it keeps your right foot in check.

Top bodgery today, exhaust bobbins snapped. Still solid 150miles later.

Thanks route master Rich, an epic drive out today. Perfect weather where was everyone.?
