March was almost a zero-cost month.   Eight members failed to renew (none of whom replied to me when I asked why 🤨) and 7 new members arrived.  So we welcome

  • Welcome to you all, it's that time of year for tinkering and winter projects so let us know what you're up to - so we can copy all the good ideas 🤣. Steve

  • Well, I really have to eat my words this month.  I thought that with the season finishing and winter approaching that we would see a reduction in new members and an increase in the number of owners no

Welcome to the club, feel free to search in the forum as there is a huge amount of information and post if you need help with anything!

Howdy from Prescott, Arizona USA!

I recently acquired this '69 Corvette based Ferrari Daytona Spyder.  It was part of the Alexander Harwick in Alabama collection, who had real Ferraris and other cool cars.  I've been a member of the Prescott Antique Auto Club since the late 1990s, my first vintage vehicle was a '48 Chevy pickup, currently own a '68 Chevy pickup.  I jumped on this because it's Chevrolet running gear, much like my pickup but with a shrink-wrapped body/frame, and it was about $2.5M less than the real thing.  When I committed to buying it, did a quick search and found this forum.  The first forum I ever joined was North American Motoring for MINI Coopers, I picked my forum name based on where would I rather be than in front of the computer, driving highway 89A over Mingus mountain to Jerome (when it's not clogged with tourists).  I waited until I got the brakes fixed, then took some glamor shots before announcing my arrival.  I'm also active on the Model Car Magazine forum (same name, similar website format), I'm an award winning model builder, so I'm excited to have a full-scale kit of a dream car that I built in 1993.  I'm also on Facebook, where I found this car via a contact who brokered the sale.

Should I start a new OT about me and my Robin Hood car?  I see we need tiny versions of photos, do I need to set up another account such as Flickr (which booted me and lost 12,000+ photos), to share larger photos?  Since I live on another continent (saw the map, need to learn how to pin my location), I don't expect to pay for benefits that don't work over here.  But I'm fine with supporting this club just because.

First car question: How many of these were built?  I know only 122 (125 other sources) Spyders were built in the 5 year run, and 16,663 Corvette Convertibles were built in just 1969.  So if only a handful of these were produced, it should be worth a billion dollars. 🤪

I can see why this forum is declining.  Sorry to ask, but did the originator of this forum pass on?   I'm way over the Atlantic with this Robinhood car, sure draws attention at the right locations.  I'm planning to get as many stickers along historic Route 66 and stickerbomb under the trunk lid.  Am I limited on website space, and need to share via a photo-hosting site?  If anyone cares?

Of course we care, but we also have to be realistic.   We have a limited amount of space on our host server and at present we are already hosting 20,576 pictures dating back to 2003, so we have to limit the size for each post and image.

So all we ask is that you are sensible.   If you pre-shrink your picture to a reasonable size to display then you can post more pictures without any change in the display.   For example a raw picture from my iPhone is 4000 px by 2000 px.   The maximum we allow is 1200 px by 1200 px so you cannot post it as it stands.  But if I shrink it to 20% it is only 800 px by 400px yet still displays perfectly on the screen.

We also limit the overall size of the post, and unfortunately as you are not a member you will be severely limited as to the number of pictures you can post as well.   Members have a much more generous allowance and can post almost as many as they like.

There are many free programs available to do this shrinking (technically called ‘resizing’) operation, personally I use paint.net.

Hope that helps.

June was a pretty brutal month, with 15 members not renewing.  Apart from one who I knew personally and had sold his car, I have no idea why the others left.  I asked all of them why but no-one replied.

The good news is that we had 9 new members signing up.   It's good to see new blood in the Club, let's hope they are more active than the ones that left.

So welcome to:

I think would be sensible (if not already in place) for members to have a card or details on a window sticker or their membership card, which they pass on or leave in/on the car, if they sell it. Obviously (probably) only when reprints need to be done.
