My original vinyl roof finally gave up the ghost so I was after a cheap solution. For those on a budget I made this in an hour from an mx5 waterproof cover off eBay. After adding fixings and tape for some edges total cost £25! It keeps water out standing on the drive better than the old vinyl and have tested in the rain up to 40 mph. It consider that only for emergencies if caught out by an unexpected shower. Another advantage is is folds into a tiny bag. Just a thought!

I am looking to tailor something, though I wasn't expecting to be able to drive in it. (See Robin Hood 2B Shower Cap ) and my next step was to get something cheap from eBay to tailor to try before trying for something of higher quality Can you give a link to what you bought? and what tape have you used to seal the new joints

Hi. The actual cover I bought is no longer available but this one looks exactly the same. Item number 395229607493. I made no cuts apart from the edges so the duct tape( most expensive waterproof) is only used where I made a couple of folds at the back to secure. The seams fitted almost perfectly to fit. I taped the windscreen edge also. The front edge uses my original poppers plus a couple of lift the dot fasteners at the edges to stop it escaping. In my picture I only have the wind deflectors on. With the doors on I have left plenty of overlap. I still need to tape the edges. This has been on since April in heavy rain on the drive and there has been no sign of water. Good luck if you go for it
