Pinto trigger wheel and EDIS4 module wanted

Featured Replies

Hello new member here

Help please

I am running a 2L  Pinto in a Q plate 100e. with an electrical misfire.  The Original jack shaft and distributor gears were like razor blades causing backlash so they were changed. A  new electronic distributor and jack shaft were fitted with a black box,  Misfire still there. I have noted that the new distributor wobbles when trying to adj the timing. (Don't know why but could account for the worn gears and misfire)

Time to bite the bullet and do away with the distributor but as always I am on a Budget and cant afford to buy new

Does any one have a spare Pinto trigger kit (or parts off) also an EDIS4 module with plug  gathering dust in their workshop?.

1957 Anglia Body , 2L pinto .Kent cam, ZZR1100 carbs, type 9 box,  2,8 Capri coil overs, 105 Anglia rear axle ,discs all round +++

Passed IVA first time

Now you will understand why the misfire is a scunner.

Welcome to the club 😀

Sorry I can't help with the trigger wheel but are you sure that the misfire is down to the dizzy ? I'm assuming you've checked/replaced plugs and leads ?

Can you give us some more info. on how or when the misfire happens - intermittent or always under certain conditions etc.?  Plenty of folks on here have experience of the pinto so someone may well have had similar problems.

Steve

Have you also done a compression/leak down test, before going down the rabbit hole check the basics, do you know which cylinder the misfire is on?

Thanks for the replies

All basics checked, Head off, reseat valves, new plugs and leads various rotor arms and caps.  Tappet clearances all correct.  cam set to manufactures timing on vernier.

All cyls between 145 - 150 PPI       As previous note   Jack shaft and  original dizzy drive gear worn to razor blades

Problem is definitely Distributor/drive      Tried 3  different  systems using  1 old and 2 new distributors==  With points,  Electronic. and electronic with black box

In all cases if the distributor is loosened to adj timing it osculate.,

Take the dizzy out and  move it a quarter turn, retime No1 to this position,  and the misfire moves to the next cyl in the firing order all the way round.

Abandoning dizzy and going for trigger wheel.
