It's been a quiet August so far with people being on holidays, but remember we still have the Dirty Duck (Sat 23rd) and Stamford Car Show (24th).   But the Group are proposing a picnic meet next Wednesday lunchtime. (20th).

Location will be decided once we know who is coming so we can try and ensure everyone gets about a 1 hour drive,

Please let me know if you would like to join us.

I would love to join you on the 20th but unfortunately I am leading a walking group that day, also as I am about to change the steering gaiters pre-MOT, so I can't be sure the car will be drivable - it should be of course, as it shouldn't take long, but you never know.  If I need other bits (e.g. tie rod ball joint) I will have to find and order them.

Back from a nice run out and picnic at Foxton Locks.  For those who have never been there, it is a 'ladder' of 10 locks near Market Harborough on the Leicester stretch of the Grand Union Canal.   These locks replaced the original 'Inclined plane' which allowed canal boats to slide down a hill from the canal coming from the South to the lower canal coming from the North.   Although now derelict much of it can still be seen and there is a museum that covers it in some detail.   The locks are currently closed because of the low water level and they have taken the opportunity to do some work on them.

It was a bit chilly and windy but we all dressed for the weather.   I had a very pleasant 1 hr drive, totally controlled by the satnav who took me on a completely new route I had never done before.   The car park was practically empty so we were able to park in our usual place.  The only drawback was when we returned from a walk to the locks our cars were full of leaves.  Autumn has arrived.

Overall a nice day out.

So our trip to Foxton Locks was swiftly followed by a lovely day at the Stamford Car Show.  Weather was perfect and there was a really good turnout.   They reached their maximum of 500 cars a couple of weeks ago so there was lots to look at.   And the public turned up in droves.

Because of our poor attendance for the last couple of years we have lost our official Club Stand and it was given to our neighbours, the Boston Car Club.   But a quick chat with their Chairman, who has seen us come for many years and he said he is happy to reserve 3 spots at the end of his extended stand for us every year.   So we parked in our usual pitch, next to the river and right by the entrance/exit.   Just about perfect.

Happy days 😀
