Hi all , quick question about my 7

The donor car is a 1982 sierra , I have the documents for it so does that mean I can get an age related registration plate and does that mean in a few years it would be classes as historic or taxed exempt

This is all when I have it up and runnig and done an IVA on it and it's on the road

Thanks Tezza

Historic classification requires over 40 years on 1st April and over 30 years since last radical alteration.

As the car is not registered as shown by requiring IVA you have a long wait.

However no one at DVLA appears to know the rules.

Getting an age related plate you have to show that engine, gearbox, rear axle and steering come from the donor

Then if the clarke issuing the new V5 gives a first registration date of the donor (1982) and you show a bit of amnesia about the date of conversion you might get historic.

Thankyou , I have the documents for the 1982 sierra also the number plate ( donor ) it's all from same car axle gearbox etc and it was built about 1990 very latest so if I said it was originally built 83 and I have taken it apart and rebuilt it since with photos then it should be okay , is that what ya saying lol

Thanks Tezza

Rebuilt sounds good.

I am curious as to why it was not registered as a Robin Hood some time ago

I doubt it, you will easily get a 1982 related plate, but I wouldn't hold a candle in the wind to an Historic plate.
