May 3May 3 Does anyone have for sale or know where I can get a frame for the soft top on my super spec? Mark.
May 3May 3 I've never seen one up for sale, but looking at mine I would guess it wouldn't be difficult to make your own. Just needs 2 pipes of the right length and bent in the right shape. Do you have the mounting brackets already fitted ? I've always felt that was the most difficult part.
May 3May 3 Author Thanks for replying Alan, when I purchased the car 3 years ago it came with a brand new top but no frame or fixing brackets. If I can get hold of a detailed drawing with the measurements than yes I could probably make one.
May 3May 3 Here is my first attempt. This the mounting bracket. If you don't have it already you will have to remove the plastic cover to fabricate and fit it. I have never done that so have no idea how it is mounted to the chassis. Here is the frame in position. You can see it is a large hoop that supports the roof half way between the rollover hoop and the windscreen and a slightly smaller hoop that sits right next to the rollover hoop. The 2 straps make sure the positioning is correct. This next picture shows the mount in more detail, you can see the long hoop is mounted to the bracket and then the smaller hoop is mounted to the large hoop above the bracket. And here are the measurements I think you need The hoops are made of 25mm metal pipes. The red line is the width at the bottom of the large loop. Mine is 1200mm, although you can measure your car to make sure the distance is the same. The pipes then go vertically for 180mm (the blue line) to the pivot point for the smaller hoop. It then bend slightly inwards so the width at the top of the hoop is 1400mm. Again you can check your hood for it's actual width at that point. The height from the pivot point to the top is 370mm (green line), making the overall height of the large hoop 550mm. When it comes to the smaller hoop it basically matches the large hoop. So it is 50mm narrower at the base and 180 mm shorter in height All the horizontal measurements can be confirmed by measuring the roof and the car. So the only important measurement is the height, which is 550mm (180mm vertically to the pivot point then 370mm the top. Hope that helps Al Edited May 3May 3 by alanrichey
May 3May 3 Author That's fantastic I certainly didn't expect all that information. You're a massive help. Thank you.
