East England meets for June

A cracking day today for a drive and a meet up. We decided to try a brand new venue that Nigel found on Google Earth, It was called East Carlton Country Park near Corby. That was a roughly one drive for each of us.

It turned out to be a real gem, it is 102 acres of fields and woodland surrounding a derelict stately home. All the usual amenities, cafe, seats, toilets, walking trails, children's play area, scenic views etc... But the icing on the cake was an absolutely huge car park that was absolutely free to park. We talked to a park ranger who said he had never seen it full, so it will ideal for when we do a weekend meet when most car parks tend to be full.

There were also mementoes of the days when Corby was a major steel proceeding town, so there were bits of heavy engineering placed all around (including the train). And also a WW2 bomb shelter that we left for our next visit.
