June 24Jun 24 Looking to buy a rover NAD10042 starter motor for the T16 Where is the best place to pick one up? Presume all will be used and refurbished these days. Is eBay safe?Alternatively if anyone has one they would like to sell, let me know.
June 25Jun 25 Is it physically broken or just stopped working, have you considered getting it refurbished? We have a place local to me (Worksop) where they will rewind the core, fit new bearing, brushes etc. But it looks like a very common starter motor, in fact I may have one in the workshop as I was running K series engines at one point although I did have a big clearout of starter motors & alternators as they were starting to take over.https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-NAD10042Ehttps://www.eurocarparts.com/p/bosch-starter-motor-402220280https://www.autodoc.co.uk/car-parts/oem/nad10042?search=OEN+NAD10042But do your own due diligence that the links point to the correct item for you.

I've tried multiple batteries and checked all wiring looks good so I can only suspect the starter is worn out and draining all power when I attempt to start.Good find on the eurocarparts site. I couldn't find it on there as it kept asking me for my VRM and then not believing that it exists! How did you know it's the right one, as I can't see NAD10042 mentioned on there?
June 25Jun 25 Author If you do have one in the workshop though, you're willing to sell, i'd happily make you an offer Edited June 25Jun 25 by wazcov

But it is a commonish starter motor by the looks of it, MGF/TF, Rover 200/400 if you use this advert https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/318418855076 or https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/257562095811 put in the Reg No it brings up https://www.eurocarparts.com/p/lucas-starter-motor-402751001 Looked in the workshop & I have 3 starter motors, 2 which I'm sure are MX5 ones & 1 other which I have no clue as to what it is but logically it 'should' be a K series one, all my previous kits have been either A series, K series or MX5. Here are a couple of pictures & a link to a video on Youtube to save the site bandwidth https://youtube.com/shorts/yzCNJQpKlBg?feature=share If you want it it's yours but I'd prefer collection due to weight, located just North of Worksop it's whether it's worth the journey currently with the price of fuel, unless we can get a club train going, but I've no idea which members are between us. Another thought is I'm going down to London(ish) the first week in August I could meet you somewhere near the Black Cat roundabout (or area)
June 25Jun 25 Author Thank you for the pictures and video.it does look very similar but hard to say if it’s the exact same. The mounting points look different as mine only has two holes.I was lent a MGTF starter from a friend which we thought was identical but had 12 teeth instead of 10.
June 25Jun 25 This one only has 10 teeth, what is also strange is that there is/was tippex on one of the teeth so I've obviously counted them in the past as well, it's here if you want it & can get it picked up
June 25Jun 25 Andy and I have a spare one you could borrow to test. It’s in my attic. I’m on holiday ATM back on 11th July.
June 25Jun 25 Bit of a journey for you but try Greens in Leicester, proper old school and have sorted me out a few times in the pastAndi
