Hello folks I'll soon be getting my first Kit Car

I've done some research and ended up going with a Robin Hood Super spec I am chuffed with it could not be happier.

My biggest concern is I'm coming from a 1.1 fiat panda eco which whilst a very chipper little trooper required basically nothing on my part other than the occasional oil change and fluid top up.

Does anybody have any advice for someone who is taking their first step into this world?

Things like preventative maintenance

Little everyday comfort hacks that have made your lives easier

Common faults and the early warning signs of them?

It's a Robin Hood Super Spec that I've gone with It's got the Rover T16 I believe and the mt75 gearbox I think

Firstly take your time and get used to its handling, and enjoy

As a yungun depending on how yung have you checked the insurance before you commit, some of them are now getting silly with who can drive a kitcar, advise from an oldun who doesn't give a monkeys about insurance cost as it's peanuts for us old barstools

Got quoted 450 before joining the club so hoping it might even get as low as 400

Im sure that sounds daft to some of you my uncle for example pays 25 quid a year I believe but I'm happy to pay that to drive something fun tbh

Not at all, I've heard of worse, or even really worse where they have refused to insure somebody after the purchase, I've had kit cars since I was 20, but heard stories that you couldn't be insured till you were 21, then it became 25, then 30 I know I tried to add my son onto my policy at one point, can't remember if they refused or they put a 1 in front of what I was paying, either way I know we didn't do it.

I'm an old fart at 29😅 with the knees of a 60yr old

When I said yungun' I was more referring to me being new to the world of having an exciting car, I've always liked cars but this is my first time owning something more special than my Banana Panda (which I do still like I'd recommend a panda as a first car to anyone doing city driving it's been top)

Try howdens insurance as well, used to be aplan. Very competitive
