Hi folks - I'm currently looking round for an 'uncompleted' Robin Hood, mainly to save time on the build.

Really looking for a 2B but have been offered a series 3a............ is this a bundle of trouble trying to get this though the SVA, as the kit dates from 1998?

I've read about the 3a being dropped pre-SVA legislation due to doubts about its ability to pass the new test; also the 2B chassis was lengthened at the front for steering protection (and at the back to provide a crumple-zone?).

Forgive me if I'm wrong (only know what I've read, I'm a newbie).

Advice from you more exerienced hands and gurus appreciated!

cheers,

Dave P

Having mentioned part completed kits

Does anyone have an idea what this is

For more details see thisEbay Item

Looks like this is for masochists or those who enjoy a real challenge only

It's the extended roll cage that makes it look different

I bought a "New series 3A" back in 1998 and they can and have passed the SVA, the SVA was just coming into operation at the time, I think. Mine isn't finished yet for various reasons but should be ready for next summer so they better be able to pass it or I'm in trouble !

I've got all the original videos, leaflets and booklets that came with the kit including stuff about the SVA if you want a copy give me a shout and I'll sort it out for you.

My series 3a sailed through the SVA after retest ,only failing on

a small number of issues(debatable in my opinion) at the first test!!!!

It passed 14/4/2004, I bought the car as a part built, which was originally

sold by RHE in 1997!!!!

Cheers Ian

Great stuff - thanks for the advice and reassurance guys - it's appreciated, I thought this was the best place to get sorted out!

Rich, thanks for the offer of help with documentation. If I get the car I've got in mind I'll be back in touch, with a bottle of best malt whisky heading your way.

This is appears to be a pretty slick site, gents.........Look forward to contributing in future as well as cribbing others' experience!

cheers,
