Alternator

Hi all,

 

I have been quoated £37 for an exchange/recon alternator for my 2.0 Pinto. Is this a good price? Also are the recon ones any good, or should I just go to the local scrappy?????

sounds about right,remember you get a garantee with a recon you wont from a scrappy

Keep checking on eBay, bargains DO still come up (occasionally). I recently got a nearly new alternator off eBay for 18 quid INCLUDING postage.

Sounds a reasonable price Guy. I was in the ford dealers this week when the lady in front of me asked for an Escort starter motor, £140 + vat! she didn't seem to flinch at all!

my local scrappy does refurbished items for 20 quid minus the pulley and a years guarantee

they are in grimsby

I decided to buy a recon unit today, as Rizla said I will get a garantee with it. Fitted it this afternoon to my Tiger Cat (coloured in Rizla Yellow) . What a pain that was! It took 5 miniutes to undo the bolts and half and hour to remove it. The engine bay is not designed to remove the alternator once the engine is installed on these cats, beleive me. :gdit:

 

Up and running again now though, ready for Barksten Heath....
