So did mine... they came from the Mk5 Escort. So did some of the dash pods... (If you have one without a rev counter then that's where it came from...)

Mine has the horn push on the end

There came a point where Uncle Henry put the horn push in the steering wheel boss and the column switches changed.

Also at some similar time ( ~1988-9) the Escort changed to very short stubby column levers for indicators and wipers

Spot on Terry. I didn't like the idea of the centre horn push on the Mountney wheel, so I got an indicator/hazard switch assembly from an early Sierra in the scrappy, with the early steering wheel without the horn push. Works a treat, and as the Metro is similarly equipped, I'll have no trouble going between the two...

does anyone know what each of the terminals are for on the rear of what i presume is an escort one peice column switch? If i move my column switch to the rear window washer position, it blows a fuse, and i haven't a clue what could be connected to it! (not that this is a major problem, but i don';t want to blow a fuse everytime i knock the switch!).

Leave the fuse out as there should not be anything connected to it I would think that if the donor loom was used then a wire that should have been removed hasn’t been and has got itself shorted to earth. Could be a right pig to find even if you built the car in the first place.

no fuse means no front wipers, as i found out in the pissing rain when i first discovered this fault, so that's not an option!

I think it uses the donor loom, but surely there must be something connected to the back on the stalk, which i could remove, if all it is doing is causing the fuse to blow.
