    brake pedal reach

As brumster has suggested I removed my pedal and cut a slit and bent and kept refitting and bending until I got it where I wanted then welded some steel back in and a plate across the rear.
  2. I got mine registered in 2018 and got an age related plate. As above as long as you send evidence in it’s really not hard. on another note tho as it’s technically registered as a new vehicle you do qualify for the 3 year mot same as a new car so mine doesn’t require an mot until July next year.
  3. That’s what I was originally going to do but. The old metal part was past it aswell.
  4. It happened to be a spare on the shelf I think I may have to go and purchase Another to keep as a back up now.
  5. I’ve just finally fettled my wipers today which were held on to the arms with 2 little screws. I’ve heated and bent the arms to fit nicely to the screen and went to change the wiper rubber as mine were old but actually discovered that when getting a 18” universal wiper of the shelf in the garage I could cut this in half to create to 9” blades and the Blade arm was slotted which actually lined up to the screw Holes in the main arm perfectly. Can take a photo tomorrow if needed.
  6. You could attach some L brackets to the scuttle and then drill the dash panel and use stainless dome head bolts with some nuts behind.
  7. I had this exact issue and tried everything carb cleaner worked kind off. But it in the end I used some stuff called spitfire that supermarkets use to remove chewing gum. This and using your nails to scrape it off only thing that didn’t mark the finish. It took hours and hurt lol but it works. Cheers mike.
  8. When I built mine I ran it without the screen for a while was was fine but any long journeys required my bike helmet for comfort. I have since fitted the screen and wipers etc and do prefer it if nothing else it’s cuts the wind noise down dramatically but still allows enough wind tho whip around the side and remind you that you certainly are driving a kit car and it’s dam good fun lol.

    Steering column

I have that Column and mine def adjusts reach also when the lever is down as I had to get mine fully out when fitting the wheel boss.
  10. It’s always the spring loaded pin in the centre of each shoe I end up having the argument with.

    Bike Carb advice

Morning and firstly welcome to the forum, get some photos up any shape and form of kit car is welcome here! I’m running bike carbs on my pinto but my set up is far more common although I would maybe try giving a specialist a call and discuss. If you don’t know of any one local to me which is well renowned is bogg brothers based in weaverthorpe near Malton in North Yorkshire. They know bike carbs inside out and also produce custom manifolds if you need one. also have a search for Danst Engineering very similar company. Hope this helps.
  12. I think the seller possible had 2 sets and just named them that. I did see both listings but couldn’t really tell any difference.
  13. That aluminum trim looks Awesome. I need to make some very similar myself to go around the rear roll bar as it enters the new boot cover. Did you cut with jigsaw and finish by hand?
  14. You can also get aluminum edge trim like the U channel stuff I’m sure you have used lots of the rubber equivalent. I have that fitted on my silencer and it’s still on there.
  15. With the current situation I’ve finally had some time in the garage and managing to get some little jobs done on the kit. For a while now I’ve been meaning to make a boot to store the odd little thing in when out and about and meaning I could use the car for the essential shopping ( I wish ). Almost there now just some trim to finish around the roll bar. Also knocked up a coolant recovery tank today and fitted that. what jobs have everyone else finally got around to doing? Keep safe everyone, Mike.

    Newbie 2B

I really wouldn’t be concerned I purchased my kit in 2011 as a rolling chassis from the chap who bought it new and never completed it. It then took me 7 years and I finally got it Iva’d in July 18 so mine isn’t due it’s first mot until next summer. If anything it’s only getting harder to pass so at least you know the car is tested recently and not 10 plus years ago with unknown history.
  17. Depends on what you want to do. You can get garage floor paint which is pretty good stuff makes life much easier for keeping clean sweeping etc stops loads of the dust and much easier to spot that dam tiny screw when you drop it. I usually go for the grey. if the floor is in bad condition you could get some self leveling and pour that down over the existing floor and let set then either leave or paint. Failing that possibly board it out but not sure that’s a good idea.
  18. Do check what stalks you have as there a a couple of variants and each are wired slightly differently I know one of the sets is 83bg can’t remember the others now. Certainly worth checking.

    Speedo

Is that the ground for when the backlight bulb is fitted into that hole?
  20. Have a search on the forum it’s been covered many times. The 3 wires on your motor should go to a plug that’s part of it normally.
  21. Keep at it, I owned mine for 7 years before I managed to complete it and get it through Iva. Just had so many long periods of time not even touching the car.
  22. I simply wash with shampoo and dry straight away with a drying towel and do a panel at a time. Nice and shiny streak free.

    Popping

What engine are you running with carbs or injection? I have a pinto on bike carbs and has always popped once turned off happens every time.
  24. Business as usual for myself, if anything we are busier than ever supplying tv and entertainment to everyone putting their feet up lol.
