The idle control valves are well known for sticking, could it be yours is stuck open? worth removing and cleaning. I've never had an issue with a high idle, other than when there was an air leak. Also check the throttle stop on the butterfly.

Is it not just engine breathing? The Pintos are fairly heavy breathers but your compression test figures are low, did you do it with the throttle wide open? I got 160-170 when i tested my old engine. Andy

I've got access to a press, but that would require removing the whole arm, hub, brakes etc, which is a much longer job. A two leg puller could also be used if i had a bespoke plate, which is what this tool does, but would take time to make

Has anyone got a ford focus rear suspension bush remover i could borrow/buy, as per the link below. Seems like a lot to spend on a single use tool, so thought I'd check here first. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F253712686998 Andy

Just a thought - i had a crack in my exhaust in the perforated tube which resonated at certain frequencies, and gave a rattle that sounded like pinking.

If it's the video I think it is, they've got a test rig that moves two halves of a bolted joint. A properly designed joint won't have movement of the two halves as the clamping force exerted by the bolt would prevent movement. It shows that the nordlock washers work well in badly designed or improperly torqued bolted joints, which is certainly a good thing, but not a game changer for most applications

be a little careful with your radiator install - with radiators mounted with the fins horizontally like yours, the effective size of the rad is reduced. This is because there's nothing to prevent hot water just going through the top of the radiator, leaving a cold bottom, which doesn't add any cooling. I would be happier with a smaller (thicker if needs be) rad with vertically oriented fins, so that hot water is pumped top to bottom, through the whole area of the radiator. Andy
