    Hello

Welcome........... Double garage lucky b*gg*r, i demolished mine prior to the start of my build, but thats another story. Did the same thing to my series 3. Only had a half fitted rear axle took it to bits new seals, paint, brakes, pipes etc. I am up to the cockpit and dash at the moment. Keep up the enthusiasm and the web site, keep using this club site, it's got most of the answers.
  2. I bought an untouched series 3 with almost everything included and whilst it's a slow build i have spent 220 hrs and £2,200 (including kit price) and its only just ready to put wheels on. I will be lucky to get under £3500 all in on the road. Push the boat out, borrow a bit more and you won't be sorry.
  3. It's a weight off my mind, it's next to my workshop so power light and cups of tea in easy reach. Next job is temp fit of engine and box, fix mounts and finish body work. And electrics the job i am dreading. But thanks for the good wishes.
  4. THE GARAGE NEXT DOOR IS MINE. got the word today that i can use the garage next to my drive, the kit is ready to roll so mid june it will be moved to its new, even nearer home. Even convinced my partner Jane that we could buy next doors house and extend etc. havn't quite finished this one yet.
  5. Reading through info gleened from this site on rear brake bias valves, fitting of mini one. it brought up the possibility of rear brake lockup ( i am building a series 3) from those that have done it or know about it what are your views. Fit one or not?
  6. On the zimmerframes that i have, if you dismantle them, then under the top cover/spring mount are a set of about 4 to 6 washers which raise the hight. If you have the same , would a few extra washers give you some extra hight and reclaim a bit of spring travel? I have a series 3 in early build but would like to get it down low so i may experiment with removing the washers 1 or 2 at a time. Any comments from those that have done it?
  7. Advertised at my place of work near Braintree ESSEX. H Reg Sierra 1800GLX 89K Good condition New MOT £295 Adrian 01371 854539 Anyone interested email me and i will have a look for you.
  8. a while back ( 20 years ) i used to clean the windscreen and make the tea for a rally team that had a 2L pinto built by John Roule of Ford Motor sport fame, it had 196bhp ( the BDA's had about 245bhp I think) and that needed a lot of attention / frequent rebuilds etc. The high bhp numbers are definately what i aspire to but moderated by the ability to drive it day to day.
  9. This bloke can't spell so probably can't count either. Might get close with the 48's very very high lift no power below 4000 cam and a head flowed by the very best, but i dont think it would much fun on the road.
  10. Sorry Barny, V8K got there first. Might get to Stoneleigh not sure yet.
  11. I know the standard ratios for the type 9 and have drooled over the close ratio gear clusters in the Burtons catalogue but what are the ratios in an MT75 box and are they more favourable?
  12. Wiplash is about £5,000 all in takes about 2 years, should fund your project but don't spend it first.

    2" Tacho

2" Tacho as supplied from RHE by Belcar.. unused, only been out of the packet once to have a look at the instructions, then I bought a big one. 2" diameter 3" deep. 4 wires switchable 4,6,8 cylinders. Bargin £10 plus postage (£2). I'll keep it for a week then on to e-bay.
  14. Whats the problem with the roll bar diameter and if it is a problem can you go to SVA without it as you can with windscreen, wipers, demisters etc. I have a removable one on a series 3.

    Engine Fitting

Would a lowered sump solve the problem? Copying video's that have been supplied by RHE unless for your own use could infringe copyright however if someone had a full set and if someone had lost a tape through no fault of their own i may be able to assist in the repair of the damaged tapes. E-mail direct.
  16. I'll have the sump and pick up please. Post it or pick up from Stoneligh. I will e-mail.

    Track Day

Just a word of caution guys, my partner (Jane) did a 7 year stint in neuro medicine and uses the bikers saying of "cheap lid, cheap head". get the best you can reasonably afford and if you do have an incident you wont have her at the end of the hospital bed.
  18. Negotiating with neighbours next door (we have adjacent drives) so i wait in hope. could extend the workshop out further but would create a corridor for the neighbours and they are tolerant. Other neighbours are petrolheads, V8 landrovers, fast bikes and cars even Fords chassis engineering and dynamics Guru ( doesn't drive a ford ) He brought home a DB9 one weekend and i forced him to take me for a whizz. Awsome, sell the house, buy a 1 bed flat with garage, job done. I will get this one cracked by June, made sure the hood would roll this week so can move it next door easily or on to a trailer
  19. did think of that breifly, even thought of selling mine and buying theirs however we have just finished extending ours( demolished my garage for two rooms down and 2 up) and my missis thinks their back garden is to small, I think they have a very big front plot double width double length garage with room to spare, dreams dreams I might have to have a tent like Rizla.
  20. Got a letter this morning from the council saying that next door have plans to demolish their garage and build another dwelling, decision in 8 weeks. Its the garage i rent from them with my only just rolling series 3, nice of them to keep me informed. My agreement runs 6 monthly and ends in June so looking for lock up in Chelmsford. I have space undercover at work but its not really practical to go back to work at the weekends. Just venting my anger.....................
  21. Just happens that I am looking for big nut covers for my series 3. Get Tifosi to put a link on the links page it all helps when you are searching late in to the night.
  22. Just been to the scrappers and SOHC pinto's are like rocking horse poo, the ones i did find, the scrappies did not want to split. Is the sump the same on the DOHC? as they had a few of them. Also asked about shortening the pickup no problem said the engineers so i will get a price for both jobs. a ball park figure for both jobs is "no more than £75, probably less but more than £50". I will let you know what the finnished price is.
  23. Jaffer i have mailed you. It looks like a very good solution. I am going to see my engineering mates this week so mail me with the dims if you can ASAP.
